Located just south of Hana near Mile Marker 50, Hamoa Beach is tucked between dramatic sea cliffs and tropical vegetation. The beach features a wide stretch of gray-gold sand framed by ironwood trees and swaying palms, creating a beautiful setting for a relaxing stop at the beach.
Unlike some of Maui’s busier resort beaches, Hamoa Beach has a more secluded and natural feel. The peaceful atmosphere makes it a favorite destination for travelers seeking a quieter coastal experience while exploring the eastern side of the island, especially the Road to Hana.
The beach is popular for swimming when ocean conditions are calm. Hamoa Beach is also a popular spot for surfing, bodysurfing, and boogie boarding due to its reliable surf break. Experienced snorkelers can enjoy good snorkeling here, but the beach is exposed to the open ocean, so proceed with caution.
Facilities at Hamoa Beach include restrooms and showers, but little else. Still, the few facilities available, combined with the beach’s natural beauty and solid conditions for beach activities, make it well worth visiting.
Driving Directions to Hamoa Beach

Limited roadside parking is available near Hamoa Beach. After parking, it is a short walk down a set of stairs to reach the beach.
