A Napili Bay Beach Guide
Napili Bay is a standout beach in West Maui surrounded by Napili Kai Beach Resort. While its setting has all the makings for a great photo op, Napili Bay is more than just a pretty beach. The bay’s turquoise waters are very welcoming to swimmers; outer reefs mostly protect the beach from large waves, giving ideal conditions for swimming. However, be aware that no lifeguards are on duty, so be sure to pay close attention when swimming.
You can also enjoy snorkeling in Napili Bay. While not one of Maui’s top snorkeling destinations, there is still a lot to see when water conditions are good. You are guaranteed to see brightly colored coral and fish, but keep an eye out for sea turtles, as they are known to frequent the bay. For your best chance to see the sea turtles, walk around the southern point to Honokeana Cove.
Napili Bay’s calm waters also create ideal conditions for stand-up paddleboarding (SUP). Most days, you will find paddleboarders on both sides of the bay.
Back on the beach, sunbathers take advantage of Napili Bay’s soft sand. Napili Bay is the perfect beach to get some sun; whether you prefer to lay out on a towel or blanket or sit in a beach chair, nothing is stopping you from soaking up the sun.
However, for all of Napili Bay’s perks, there are a few drawbacks. There are no public bathrooms, but if you are in need, restaurants and shops are nearby. Parking can also be a challenge; street parking is available, but it gets busy. Arriving early will give you the best opportunity to nab a parking spot. Drive on Lower Honoapiilani Road before turning onto Hui Drive. Here, the road will curve around the hotels and resorts, and you will be greeted by street parking.
