One of the best ways to experience Maui’s enchanting beauty – the pristine beaches, emerald forests, and rugged coastline – is on a bike. Maui is an incredibly bike-friendly island with an abundance of great trails suitable for bikers of all skill levels. The team at Parrish Maui is here to get you up to speed on biking in Maui. Whether you are in search of a great biking trail or bike rentals, our guide has you covered.
Why Bike in Maui?
Maui’s breathtaking scenery, diverse landscapes, and favorable weather make it an ideal destination for biking. Whether you’re a seasoned mountain biker or a leisure cyclist, you’ll find something to suit your preferences. Biking allows you to explore the island at your own pace, get off the beaten path, and experience the magic of Maui up close.
Maui Bike Rentals
Most travelers wishing to bike around Maui rent a bike. If you are in need of a bike rental, do not worry; there are plenty of places around the island that can accommodate you. The closest bike rental company near our vacation rentals in Kapalua is Boss Frog’s. Boss Frog’s offers a wide range of bike rentals, so whether you are looking for a road bike, e-bike, beach cruiser, or a hybrid, you will find a bike suitable for your next adventure on Maui.
Maui Biking Trails
There is a wide range of bike trails on Maui, and many great trails are located near our villas in Kapalua. The Kapalua Village Trails are three hiking and biking trails located just minutes away from our rentals, though there are really just two you will want to bike. The Cardio Loop is a 1.3-mile loop trail that is considered easy, making it a great choice for families.
However, for a longer and more challenging trail, head to the Lake Loop, which is a 4.2-mile loop trail that is mostly paved but also features a short dirt section. The Lake Loop offers some steep hills, making for a more challenging biking experience. This trail features occasional ocean views and a lake, which is a great spot to watch for wildlife such as ducks.
Another option is Lipoa Point, a 2-mile loop trail featuring some great views of the ocean. However, be aware that this is a dirt trail and can become quite muddy. Lipoa Point can also be overgrown at times, so if you do not want to share the trail with brush, this might not be the best choice for you.
